Proper appliance labelling in shops

The Come On Labels project prepared a document with detailed information on how energy labels should be placed on products in shops and how national authorities could organise the shop visits to check if energy labels are in place as required. Documents for download are available here.


Check our website regularly or contact us individually, as we will visit over 500 shops around Europe, to see on our own, if the labels are properly placed on the products!



New labelling in Czech TV

On 1st September 2011, a representative of SEVEn, The Energy Efficiency Center was invited to Czech TV "CT24", a news channel, to speak about the new labelling scheme and the changes for consumers.

New Brochure on Energy Labelling

In Malta, an informative leaflet for retailers and suppliers was prepared in August 2011.

Information provided on the leaflet includes general information about the new product energy label scheme, obligations that arise from the EU-wide implementation of this new scheme for retailers and suppliers, information about common label elements and elements specific to certain appliance types. Finally, the leaflet includes information about the Come On Labels project, contact details of the project partners and highlights the support of the Intelligent Energy Europe Programme.

The leaflet will be circulated to several hundreds of retailers and suppliers in Malta in fall 2011 and will be used at the main national dissemination events.

New documents online

You can now download the document on EU Labelling and Ecodesign Legislation also in project's national languages. The document provides an overview of the EU legislation related to the labelling and ecodesign of household appliances.

The national versions are available here.

 

Similarly, national versions of the document on Appliance testing procedures and good practice are available. The document provides information on how the appliances should be tested to compare energy consumption with the one declared on the energy label.

Environmental Day in Brussels

On the 5th of June 2011, the Brussels Environment Institute organised an Environmental Day where the ABEA participated strongly, having a specific stand for the Come On Labels project.  All visitors could received both information on energy efficiency in general, as well as information on the new energy label,  practical tips  to reduce energy consumption of  household appliances.  The children could make "energy label" flowers and answer energy-quizzes.  The brochures given out are downloadable on this website.

Labelling in shops

The Come On Labels project has published a summary paper which focuses on the verification of proper presence and placement of energy labels in shops and at the points of sale. The document describes legal requirementsin this respect and activities needed to be undertaken. It also gives guidance on how to undertake verification activities in a practical manner.

The Come On Labels project has published a summary paper which focuses on the European legislation related to product energy labelling, as well as the ecodesign requirements, which relate to the product group with the energy labels.

Spanish Leaflet on Energy Label

One of the latest activities of the Come On Labels project that are developed in Spain is the dissemination of information materials about the new energy label. Escan Consulting developed a leaflet in which the changes of New Energy Label are analysed for the domestic appliances: washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers and TVs.

Come On Labels in JRC

On May 14, 2011, the Joint Research Centre – Ispra Site - organised the annual “Open Day”. Visitors received information about the energy efficiency and renewable energy opportunities. The local ENEA office participated to the event presenting the on-going activities, including the ComeOn Labels project. Appliance Testing Summary Paper

The Come On Labels project has published a summary paper which focuses on testing of appliances for labelling compliance verification. The paper includes an overeview of current legislation and best practice in selected EU countries or projects.

Energy efficient ACs

Topten Focus on room air conditioners states that already A+++ models will be soon available.

Topten, an IEE project focused on energy efficient appliances, tested and ranked an efficient air conditioner according to the draft European measurement standard and energy label. Topten concludes that the energy label class limits are not ambitious enough and that the new label privileges inefficient single and double ducts.

New energy labelling – brochure (CZ)

New brochure on the changes in energy labelling has been prepared by SEVEn, The Energy Efficiency Center in the framework of the Come-On-Labels Project.


The brochure summarizes major changes in energy labelling coming into force in 2011. For each category of labelled products, the old and new (where relevant) label is presented together with advice on selection of efficient appliances and their proper operation.


The brochure is available in Czech and was prepared by SEVEn in cooperation with Prague Energy Utility (Pražská energetika, a.s.).

ATLETE Project

15. 04. 2011

The ATLETE project, also funded by the Intelligent Energy Europe programme, has published results from testing 80 refrigerators and freezers, where the project organisers compared values declared on the energy label with laboratory tests.
